Meat

The discovery that meat is an accessible dish for everybody, but not only for wealthy people is a recent one. In the old times wealthy Sicilians were not often to get together, that is why meat was not very famous in the Sicilian cuisine. This is also a reason why local meat dishes of the local cuisine are divided into two groups - those for reach people, which are cooked from top quality meat and those for poor people, cooked from less expensive sorts of meat. Never the less these dishes are delicious.

Fish

Sicily is the only area in Italy, circumfluous by three seas - Ionic, Tirrenian and Mediterranean. That is why this place is famous for its seafood recipes.

Sicily is not industry-developed region, that is the reason why water here remains clean and fish tasty. People here eat crawfishes, mussels, cancers, echinus and lots of other sorts of fish.

There is an interesting peculiarity: in Christian and Catholic tradition fish is a good sign, symbol of success, to see a fish while sleeping means to have a great luck.
